Aaaaaand here we go again … two groups that self identify as “best in the business” types when it comes to realistic training and safety protocols. One is a private facility, the other is a training company that provides training and had rented the training site for a training event. OBVIOUSLY clueless about best practices in RBT safety, and a guy gets shot in the neck. It sounds as if he will recover, but yet another example of the “zoomies” with the cool military background that might be VERY VERY good at doing war time shit, but with the abysmal safety protocols I see perpetrated by military groups at all levels worldwide, I wouldn’t get anywhere NEAR one of these training groups without a VERY thorough investigation as to what their REAL experience is in creating combative experiences or what is often narrowly referred to as “Reality Based Training”, which for the clueless means shooting stuff at each other. The next post will include the websites for both the training facility (which I recommend you avoid) and the training company that rented the facility (which I recommend you avoid) as well as an article about the shooting. Hat tip to Grant Cunningham (one of the guys that actually GETS it) for this recent information. Best wishes to the guy that got shot. Glad they didn’t kill you that day. And for the rest of you, VET your TRAINERS … there are far too many excellent former operators running classes that are clueless, if not downright reckless when it comes to running this type of training. Do not let ANYBODY call this a “training accident”. This was a reckless disregard for Best Practice Safety Protocols that resulted in a criminally negligent shooting. Period.

Currently, the victim is fighting for his life with a severed spinal cord on a ventilator.
