Too many agencies are so inept about safety standards the SIMPLEST of enforced protocols would stop the shootings and the killings during simulation training. But the hubristic attitude or potential ineptitude still persists. AT LEAST TWO A YEAR. Still holding true from when I wrote the book Training at the Speed of Life in 2004. It is a demonstration of a vast sea of information that too many agencies are neither aware of, of if they are aware of it they ignore.
I guess enough is not enough, and until those perpetrating these PROSECUTABLE ACTS are held accountable, they will continue. Are they intentional? Of course not. But the agency and training staff are INTENTIONALLY neither learning nor enforcing safety protocols to assure a physically and mentally safe training environment, so there IS criminal culpability.
If you shot your kid at your house during a well-intentioned training exercise to teach them about safe firearm handling in a crisis event at home, you would go to jail. At least here in Florida you would. But not as an officer or a training manager.
Mind numbing.
